What is the difference between VG and PG?
What is PG or Propylene Glycol?
Propylene Glycol is a base liquid that is used to suspend your flavour. PG has no taste, odourless, and can be found in general products such as food and medicine. PG allows e-liquid to be vaporized by the e-cigarette atomizer creating a vapor that is inhaled.
What is VG or Vegetable Glycerin?
Vegetable Glycerin is a base liquid that is used to suspend your flavour. It is odourless and is used within the food and confectionery industry. Vegetable Glycerin is an organic compound created from vegetable derived oil. VG allows e liquid to be vaporised by the e cigarette atomizer creating a vapor that is inhaled.
VG is a carbohydrate as a food definition, it is also hypoallergenic, and is found in allergenic soaps, cosmetics and other products. VG naturally has a subtle sweet taste, and although it is classed as a carbohydrate, it doesn’t have a major impact on blood sugar levels thus can be used on people on insulin.
What is the difference between PG & VG?
PG and VG are both base liquids that hold the flavour in your e-liquid, and are both odourless and tasteless. PG is less viscous than VG and a higher PG content or 50% is ideal for regular types of e-cigarettes. A higher VG content e-liquid is more suitable to a sub-ohm vaping device or a dripper.
The majority of Freebase e-juices are 70/30 (VG/PG) whereas Nic Salt e-juices will normally be 50/50 (VG/PG)
Is PG or VG Base better for my Unflavoured Freebase or Salt Nicotine?
In simple terms PG based Nicotine is most commonly purchased. It is thinner and therefore easier to decant as well as mix into your 0mg e-juices, plus it gives the throat hit most ex-smokers are looking for.
VG based Nicotine doesn’t tend to have the throat hit of PG based Nicotine (in fact can be a little sweeter), however as it is thicker can be a little more difficult to mix into your 0mg e-juices.
As we recommend putting your Unflavoured Nicotine purchased from us in the fridge or freezer another plus of PG based Nicotine is that it will not freeze nor thicken in the freezer and can be used right away – VG based Nicotine will go a little thicker in the fridge or freezer and may require the product to sit at room temperature before being readily usable to mix into your 0mg e-juices.
